VHS is still alive

The VCR turns 57 years of life. Google pays tribute to the technology from which they took the lymph current and future generations of products for home entertainment.

Outdated technology. But still alive, in a context dominated by DVD, streaming online, cloud compunting and set-top box.

In 1984, the school has made Betamax ruling concerning the protection of copyright. Sony, maker of the Betamax VCR, was accused by Universal Studios and Disney to promote copyright infringement. The Supreme Court of the United States recognized that Sony is not responsible for actions taken by users. Furthermore, the enrollment for private use will not infringe.

The effects Betamax still continue to influence the issues that pertain to copyright, such as by the recent conflict between television networks and Aero subscription service for the transmission of streaming live television channels. Despite the legal action moves from CBS, Comcast, News Corp. and Disney Aero continues to operate.

To celebrate the event YouTube has proposed an emulator with which to play a VHS film, not really new for the truth, for the selection of videos from the site. The effect that you get by clicking the icon of the VHS tape is typical of slightly distorted and grainy images of the 80s and 90s. At times the film slides vertically and the image blurs. Here's a sample video:
