Google Updater is a utility distributed with Google Pack, which allows you to search and install updates for the programs installed with the package automatically and invisibly to the user.
The service, however, has never earned a good reputation among users, who consider him a bit 'invasive and are bothered by the possibility that the utility is able to gather confidential information and then send them to Google.
The software now changes course: its code becomes free and open to changes to all users who want to contribute to the cause, according to the philosophy of open source.
The project is codenamed Omaha.
The benefits that could lead Omaha users are still in the shadows, but is already thinking of an auto-update to all the programs installed on the Microsoft operating system, and not just those installed by the Google Pack, a little ' as is done natively in Linux and Mac OS X.
