We see how, through an add-on for Firefox, we can add some links to our favorite applications directly in the browser.
People who spend hours surfing the Net, will still need to launch other applications beyond the browser, be it a text editor, a multimedia player or email client.
Normally, to do so, we must first minimize the browser, and then run the desired software from the desktop or the Start menu. Due to External Application Buttons mod, an add-on add-ons, we can add icons in Firefox which will enable us to launch our favorite applications without leaving your browser.
The extension is available here even though, at the time of writing, this is an experimental plug-ins and to download you must check the item Let me install this experimental add .
Once you download the add-on, restart the browser as needed. Do not we will see no noticeable change, but the extension is installed. To begin using it, we bring the pointer to a section on the menu bar, we perform a right click and then select the item Customize .
Scroll down the list of icons appeared, until you find Applications .
Drag the item to a part of the menu where you want the program icons to launch appear. I, for example, I put in the address bar and search bar.
Now close the window Customize . We perform a right click of the mouse at the point where we had dragged Applications while ago, and select New button .
This will open a window from which we can browse our resources in search of the executable that will point the connection.
Just double click the file to create the link in your browser. And here is the pop icon of our program.
To remove a link, just click the right mouse button and select Delete . Through the voice Properties in the box Optional Settings , we can set a keyboard shortcut by typing in Shortcut key .
