Jimmy Wales thinks of this new resource to improve the quality of services provided.
Within a couple of months, Wikipedia will be ready to launch a new service, which, in practice, will give the ability to view videos about the topic discussed by completing the information.
Movies, documentaries than just videos or whole, will be directly inserted in the page text. It is assumed that for each page (the pages are about 34 million today) at least a video: the result is a repository of immense proportions that can compete globally, with those still in existence.
Wikipedia's staff has already prepared some video content, but because the project goes into the port will be decisive, if not essential, the contribution of more than 11 million registered users.
In fact, insiders reveal that will put a button add-video, by which each user can upload movies related to a topic, and manage them directly from your browser, without using external applications.
Of course Wikipedia reserves the right to remove the clips on offer, when to break the copyright law, or were contrary to public decency. In the opinion of Erik Möller, director of the Wikimedia Foundation, "any user can improvise and documentary filmmaker."
Although other platforms that host videos uploaded by users (such as YouTube and Dailymotion) can not compare at all to this initiative, perhaps they feel the pressure of this new service. They will then come to terms with Wikipedia for the granting of free videos already loaded, in exchange for something? At the very least be able to contain damage caused by a drop in visits.
