It can be a good choice to decide to install the OS on one partition and all the other programs in a dedicated space. However, there is the hitch that every time you install something we must change the installation path.
Through a simple modification to the registry, we can change the default installation path. The initial situation is this:
Then open the Start menu , click on Run , type regedit and press Enter .
Let us go to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion and perform a double click the value ProgramFilesDir in the right side of the window. In the Value data field , type the new installation path and press Enter .
And this is the final situation retrying the installation of the software:
From now on all installations of programs will aim to D: drive (or partition that you have chosen).
