External HD: FAT32 or NTFS?

External HD: FAT32 or NTFS?

Hello guys,

I bought a few days ago an external HD with USB and eSATA Verbatim 1TB formatted with the FAT32 file system.

As an external HD with a little 'older FAT32 formatted often could not copy some files even smaller (appeared a message like: "attribute of the file is not copied" or something like that) and even videos of a few GB I was wondering if it is better to format the new HD to NTFS, I also read somewhere that this file system handles more file storage and is more suitable for large volumes.

Do you know if there are any drawbacks to using the NTFS file system? (Apart from the fact that HD would not be recognized by win98 and earlier)

Thanks to all.

As for the choice of the FS, if you have no need to use external hard drives with NTFS Win9x/ME is certainly recommended.

As for Linux instead, tie with Ubuntu and I write to NTFS without any problems.
