We see the operation of two programs that allow us to resize partitions on the hard drive at no cost.
When you install the operating system we are asked if you want to use all available space on your hard drive. With the passing of time, however, may arise the need to reduce this space to create new partitions for saving data or to install special programs.
Although we have created multiple partitions when you installed we may need to change the size to reallocate the space between them.
Windows Vista has a built-in function that allows you to do this scaling, while Windows XP and earlier versions do not.
So we need to avoid having to format and reinstall everything again to resort to external programs that perform scaling, and not just the partition.
EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition Partition Magic and Paragon are two programs in English, distributed free version for private parties.
Use with caution
As the risks resulting from these operations should be minimal, we are quite heavily modifying the operating system with the displacement of a quantity, also consisting of files on your hard drive: It is advisable, before proceeding to make a backup of important data and a control disk with Scandisk to find out possible problems.
