Remove icons from the notification in Windows 7

To do some 'cleaning in the "systray" Windows 7 we have two possibilities. Let's look together in this article, and look what is actually the most correct.

Remove icons from the notification in Windows 7

The areas are filled to the notification of the things that I hate Windows. Full of icons, most of which are unnecessary or rarely used, that we might also slow down the performance of Windows.

For this reason, in my machine, one that immediately follows the installation of all programs is the removal of a large dose of icons from the notification area.

Nell'oramai outdated Windows XP, however, had a single option: do it manually from msconfig to remove what does not interest me boot. This choice, however, has a limitation: it can not remove Windows icons, namely those who do not have a corresponding process. Some examples include the control of USB devices, the battery indicator, volume control and so on.

Windows 7 introduces the ability to control all the icons individually. However, it is important to note that since this setting does not remove any programs you want to disable. Let's see.

Through the interface of Windows 7

We click the right button in the Taskbar so that it appears the context menu.

At this point we choose Properties and this window will appear.

Click on the Customize button ... in the Notification Area and we will be faced with this window.

As you can see, from here we can choose the behavior that must be taken individually each icon.

This section is very useful if they are always present the same icons, or if all initial configurations. To use it we can make sure that the box Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar is disabled, and only then, click on each drop-down list that interests us.

In the example above (common to any other icon), you see three entries:

Show icon and notifications is equivalent to the full view of the icon. You can see the image and notifications generated by the program; Hide icon and notifications is equivalent to the complete disappearance of the icon. Neither the image nor the notifications will be displayed; Only show notifications brings up the icon if necessary, or when the program generates a notification.

However, this functionality should be reconfigured for each icon for new installations. If our goal is to remove the system icons (such as the Action Center, which when disabled still shows its icon) can act through another section.

From the window where we were before, click on the link system icons on or off and we get to this window.

As you can see, we have full control of the system icons. To enable or disable an icon, simply click on the drop-down list ...

And choose Active if we want to see notifications and releases or Off otherwise.

When we have finished the setup will close all windows with OK to save your new options.

Through msconfig

As I said at the beginning of the article, remove an icon from the notification bar does not remove from the start of the program concerned. If we want to remove this system is not an icon, my advice is definitely to act via msconfig. To use, click on the Start Menu , then Run (we can reach it via Win + R keyboard, if the entry is not present). We write msconfig and press Enter .

We are confronted with a window like this.

We access the Startup tab and we'll find a list.

If you want to disable an item, we need to deselect it. It is an operation that involves little risk because they do not know what could cause disabling damage. If you do not know what to disable, but do not ask our MegaForum and we will help you.

However, if you know what to do, once you apply the changes, close the window with OK and restart the computer as required.
