Chkdsk / f does not defragment

Question :

Hello everyone, right now I wanted to defrag external hard drive, a Lacie from 1 tera, with the Windows defragmentation utility, but if I analyze that defragments and I get this message from Disk Defragmenter and says:

It is scheduled to run Chkdsk on the volume: Lacie ( E: ).

Run chkdsk / f

What does it mean? Does anyone know what to do!?!? Thank you.

Answer :

Premise, not the defrag scandisk

Press Start-> Run and type cmd will open a window where you type chkdsk e: / f hit enter and let All the computer.

Please note that The drive letter must be that of the disk to be checked and in your case I think both E:

At the end of this operation, during which up to 5 successive stages of verification and that requires a little time to finish, you can perform defragmentation that until now you could not do because of inconsistencies in the file system (it is That's why Windows requires you to first scandisk).
