Mozilla stops development of Firefox for Windows Mobile

The restricted version of the most popular open-source browser will not come from Windows Mobile devices governed. To communicate from the pages of your blog is Stuart Parmenter, one of the project leaders.

The problem, as stated, is twofold.

On the one hand, it is clear that the future of the platform consists of Windows Phone 7: Despite the reassurances, the 6.x branch is assigned to a certain end, and now clearly visible in the distance. The code developed up to now by Mozilla developers, however, is addressed to this platform, as is known, requires the use of language as a native C + + tool for creating software.

The development team is then called to work directly on your Windows Phone 7. In this case, however, would be necessary to carry out the program in Silverlight managed language: a scenario that, of course, Mozilla is not willing to accept.

The reasons for the waiver have not been clarified, but it is possible to assume that the group is not willing to use a language that must be, generates code potentially less powerful than is possible with C + + and could therefore constitute a penalty in the clash with Pre-installed version of Internet Explorer.
